The Signaling and Traffic Engineering development kits as described in
MARBEN™ GMPLS Suite are very flexible, and can be used to accommodate a wide range of MPLS, OIF or GMPLS-based applications. However, they require a significant development effort from the
MARBEN™ Products customer to build a complete application on top of these development kits.
The
MARBEN™ GMPLS controllers are a set of high-level libraries built on top of the Signaling and Traffic Engineering development kits. Such controllers are intended for
MARBEN™ Products customers that are willing to trade off some flexibility against faster GMPLS application development and integration. These controllers provide GMPLS and GMPLS-based (OIF/ITU-T UNI and E-NNI) signaling and routing procedures.
It consists of three different controllers:
- the Signaling controller
- mainly manages Setup and teardown of calls and connections. It invokes services from the Routing Controller and the Link Resource manager to achieve such a goal.
- the Routing controller
- mainly manages Path computation capabilities using the traffic engineering information running IS-IS or OSPF routing protocols.
- the Link resource manager
- performs local TE-Links management.
