    Notes:

    A new version of the ASN.1 standards (ASN.1:2002) is planned to be released by 2002. This release will integrate all the technical corrigenda and amendments that have been issued against the 1997 release.

    Two new ASN.1 standards have also been published :

      - ITU-T X.692 | ISO/IEC 8825-3: Specification of Encoding Control Notation (ECN). The encoding control notation ECN is a formal notation which will allow users to define their own encoding rules.

      - ITU-T X.693 | ISO/IEC 8825-4: XML Encoding Rules (XER). XER will allow to represent an ASN.1 value in an XML format.
