    Notes:

    There are many ways to define an Abstract Syntax. In the previous example, we used drawings and English text.

    The definition of an Abstract Syntax is part of the specification of the applications. It must therefore be complete and unambiguous.

    ASN.1 was designed to be a formal method proposed for such definition. It consists in some notation, similar to the notation for declaration of data types in the programming languages.
