    Notes:

    At the origin, ASN.1 is closely related to the notions introduced by the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection).

    The whole purpose of OSI is to ensure the openness of the exchanges.

    The exchange of Application Data values must therefore be independent from a given hardware, or programming language, or programming language compiler.
